Joe had a huge heart and was always thinking of others. One of Joe's biggest concerns during his illness was the welfare of his family in the case that something should happen to him. He wanted to be sure that his wife, Colleen, would be provided for and that his two sons, Joey and David, would be able to have a bright future with a good education. One of his good friends, Rich Arnold, set up a trust fund for his sons' education through the state of Virginia. The proceeds from this ride will go directly to the educational trust funds for Joey (9) and David (5) and the American Cancer Society.
